Potters Wood Methodist Church
Potters Wood
Potters Wood Church is located at the junction of Pows Road and Hanham Road, in an area of Kingswood which used to house some of the local factories. The area to the left of Hanham Road, and below Douglas Road was once the site of a famous manufacturer of motor bikes - the Douglas Bike.
The region between Moravian Road and Douglas Road used to be where the Lucas Spice factory created some intriguing smells. In fact, the original Potters Wood Mission was located in this area. When the Lucas management wanted to expand their factory, they donated the land now occupied by our Church, and managed the construction of the building itself. This is a gift for which we will always be grateful.

These factories have gone now, and the area now contains a mix of residential estates and industrial estates, with the supermarkets of the shopping centre within easy walking distance.
At the top of Moravian Road is the old Moravian Church, now the United Church in Kingswood. Members of this Church provided inspiration to John Wesley.
